Because of this vital stake, VeriSign actively participates in existing fora and deliberations on alternative mechanisms that address governance of this infrastructure and public policies that address Internet use.

VeriSign works closely with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in the effort to preserve the operational stability and security of the Internet, promote competition, achieve broad representation of the global Internet community, and develop an effective bottom-up, consensus-based process.

VeriSign also believes that new and innovative services can be deployed through a continued industry-led, public-private partnership that also ensures the stable and secure operation of the root zone system and other critical infrastructure components.
