ENGINEERING MANAGER

Engineering Manager

This position manages the staffing and delivery of engineering/consulting services for DLT whether by DLT engineers or engineering subcontractors. In addition, the management oversight of the DLT 7×24 Service Center falls within the responsibilities of the role. The Engineering Manager and his/her team interfaces with the project delivery engineers, technical support engineering staff, and product license sales groups. Role includes identifying needs, developing, influencing, and implementing proposal solutions, and successfully managing the engineering engagement that were successfully closed by the sales divisions. This position has overview authority for managing project execution, ensuring attainment of project milestones and achievement of cost budget on a per project basis as well as the world-class delivery of remote technical support to installed base of customers. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure business objectives are met or exceeded related to professional services sales.

Responsibilities
  • Define project scope, deliverables, timelines, and required resources to meet client objectives. Select/recommend compliant and competitive Service Partner(s) best suited to deliver the service. Document requirements through Statements of Work and obtain Customer confirmation and acceptance. This is done in concert with the Project Implementation Team
  • Work with clients and DLT project resources and consulting partners to optimally staff projects for success, optimize team effectiveness, and assist teams in bringing issues to resolution. Assists in identifying, selecting and managing 1099 contractors on engagements where required.
  • Lead and manage the DLT 7×24 Service Center in the efficient delivery of remote technical support of installed base customers with continued attainment of world class operating metrics and 100% case closure rate.
  • Manage the client technical relationship to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.
  • Assist in creation of proposal documents in support of the opportunity/project. This entails gathering requirements from the customer business team, facilitating proposal/project reviews, updating documentation, obtaining necessary approvals, and managing through project life cycle – along with the Project Implementation Team.
  • Provide hands-on consulting at the client site when needed, working with clients to analyze, specify, and develop client-specific programs.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience managing technical resources engaged in the delivery of engineering services to a broad base of clients.
  • 5 or more years of experience in the engineering function of a major IT software solutions manufacturer, preferably involved with data storage solutions, back-up, recovery, archiving, clustering, etc. with currently valid engineering certifications in related areas.
  • 2-3 years of experience in the field of technical support or pre-sales engineering.
  • Strong communications skills, with the ability to persuade and clearly articulate goals and project plans through both written and verbal communications forms.
  • Solid working knowledge of best practices used in the implementation of enterprise hardware or software solutions.
  • Proficient with MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project, or equivalents.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Ability to build rapport with team members and clients.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks within critical deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently.
