Red Hat Enterprise Linux – Academic Editions

Red Hat offers unsupported academic editions of its Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop and Server operating software. Either edition can be purchased as an individual subscription or a campus subscription.

For production and business application usage of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, academic institutions are advised to use supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions. Academic discounts for our fully supported RHEL subscriptions and layered solutions are available.

Desktop Edition

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Academic Desktop Edition is for single CPU machines. Red Hat Desktop is the newest member of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux family. It provides a high-quality, full-featured client system that is suitable for use in a wide range of desktop deployments.

Server Edition

Choose the Academic Server if you want to run virtual machines, or if you need developer tools or server packages. Supported by leading ISV applications. Provides necessary technology for small to large server environments where a computer is providing services to a set of clients.
