SolarWinds recently published an interesting infographic on cybersecurity based on a series of surveys they did with the federal IT community.
Among the highlights to me are:
- 42% of an agency’s threat sources are from careless or untrained employees
- Even with cybersecurity budget increases, 63% of respondents said budget constraints for tool implementation is a problem and 40% say they lack enough budget to fully protect their agency
- Those who already use continuous monitoring have identified security event detections almost twice as often as those without
- The two biggest sources of security event detection are inappropriate internet access by insiders and rogue devices their network
