Google Government Tech Day in Denver

On Thursday, November 17, Google and “[acronym]’s sponsor, DLT Solutions hosted a live technology seminar at the Sheraton Denver West Hotel in Lakewood, CO.  The Tech Day highlighted DLT Solutions’ partnership with Google to provide innovative technologies that help government agencies with Enterprise solutions.  Google product experts spoke to Federal Civilian and State and Local government employees about how these modern technology solutions allow them to meet the current challenges of their agency.

Loren Hudziak spoke specifically about the Google Search Appliance.  These search applications deploy rapidly and provide fast, relevant, secure access to the information with the same ease of use as Google.com.  Mike Evanoff presented on Google Earth Enterprise mapping applications and how they provide intuitive, easy-to-use tools to share up-to-date geospatial information system data.  Seth Siciliano emphasized how Google Apps can help reduce IT costs utilizing secure cloud technology with web based office applications.

Andy Paratore, Chief Information Officer for Larimer County at Department of Employment & Training, presented on Larimer County’s use of Google Apps.  “Larimer County is the first county in Colorado to transition to the Google Apps cloud computing, messaging (email), and collaboration solution for the next generation of the office automation tools to be used at Larimer County.”  Larimer County News Release.  This transition took place over the three day July 4th 2010 weekend.  So far, Larimer County has migrated 1975 mail boxes, calendars, and resources and approximately 4.2 million messages.  Andy Paratore and Larimer County “believe Google will take us into the future in a way that is more cost effective and meets our needs better than other systems.”

DLT also partners with Google to provide government agencies with Google Earth and Google Maps solutions.
