Tuning NetBackup – Part 2: Solaris 10
Disable TCP Fusion
Getting NetBackup status code 23’s? How about status code’s 24, 25, or 53? Maybe you just have the occasional status code 50’s? Chances are you have TCP Fusion enabled.
TCP Fusion has caused many issues with NetBackup as it performs flow control while utilizing blocking I/O sockets. With that said, I recommend everyone disable TCP Fusion if they are using NetBackup.
In order to disable TCP Fusion you can utilize one of two ways to do so.
OPTION 1: NON- PERSISTENT
- Make sure there are no backups or restores running
65 Toss Power Trap
Kansas City is known for barbeque, early bebop jazz and the football team, the Chiefs. Although the Chiefs’ glory days in football are for the moment distant memories, in their heyday the Chiefs figured in what is still one of the most famous plays in the NFL’s Super Bowl era: 65 Toss Power Trap. The play, immortalized by Steve Sabol of NFL Films and Kansas City’s voluble coach, Hank Stram, became a signature moment because Sabol convinced Stram that a live mike on one of the head coaches on the sidelines during the game would be a great idea.

Cyber Hoarders
There is a little hoarder in all of us. One night I was captivated by a show called ‘Hoarders’ I saw on the cable channel. For those not familiar, this show chronicles the lives of individuals from all walks of life, from every class, from every race, and from every culture, that are caught up in a recurring pattern of collecting and holding on to “stuff”.
Do not get me wrong- there is no judgment here. “One person’s junk, is another person treasure.” That is unless you are a spouse who is fed up with the junk (or treasure) collecting. Or if you are a storage administrator try
