SonicWall reaches (EAL4+) certification

This week SonicWall announced its TZ and NSA product lines achieved the latest in government certification requirements, having earned the Common Criteria (CC) Evaluation Assurance Level 4+ (EAL4+) certification (ISO 15408). The new EAL4+ certification is an addition to the already achieved FIPS140-2 Level 2 certification (see article here).  As any federal IT engineer will tell you, having the box checked on government requirements for compliance is critically for government acceptance and implementations. SonicWall’s technology goes far beyond just firewalling however.  With their TZ line for example, you can do both Application Intelligence and content filtering all in the same pass.  Plus they wrote the book on UTM (seriously, they literally wrote the book on it and had United Threat Management copyrighted before it became industry standard terminology). It made sense for SonicWall’s product lines to keep ahead of the game and achieve government standards so quickly, they continue to outpace other network protection appliances in these requirements and is quickly becoming an government industry standard for network security and compliance.
