Red Hat Linux Now Available on Amazon's Secure Federal Cloud

Ever wanted to run Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) on your Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud? This week was your lucky week because the two companies announced that RHEL is now available on AWS’ secure GovCloud. “On AWS GovCloud, agencies can use RHEL on demand, paying for only what they use, when they need it,” said Paul Smith, Red Hat’s vice president and general manager for the public sector. Cybersecurity Priorities Unveiled in FY 2015 Budget

Earlier in the week, President Obama released his 2015 budget. While talking about cybersecurity, he emphasized that his priorities are focused on collaboration between government entities, the private sector, and citizens. In it, he proposes construction on a $35 million federal cyber campus to help in those efforts. Unfortunately, the president proposed a reduction in federal tech funding as reported by Nextgov.
