How can local governments reduce their costs while keeping up with their services and readiness?
For the past two decades, local governments have been using GIS technology to manage and improve responses for service departments, as well as citizens. GIS applications gives the ability to view and evaluate the locations and status of emergency equipment and early response crews, police and fire infrastructure. Current geospatial information gives government teams the ability to respond faster and plan for the future more effectively.
Gathering accurate GIS data has always been challenging. With the use of an all-in-one mobile GIS system can quickly and accurately record the location of objects, digitally transfer their positions to a GIS application on the same handheld device, document the objects, and measure heights and sizes directly. This procedure reduces crew sizes, as well as errors and processing time transferring data to central GIS database. What this means is that local governments can actually do more with less.
In Plant City, Florida field inspectors are evaluating the town’s infrastructure. The Engineering Department of Plant City has doubled the productivity of field inspectors by using the ikeGPS mobile GIS devices.

Historic buildings hold a special place in the hearts of architects, workplace planners, and employees. There’s something alluring about creating workspaces within the confines of century-old stone or retrofitting a Victorian Era home into offices.
