Autodesk University 2010 – All Good Things Must Come to an End

The Beatles. The Washington Capitals’ 2010 14 game win streak. Autodesk University (AU) 2010. What do they have in common? Like all good things, they eventually came to an end. Luckily, the Beatles legacy continues to thrive through old recordings, the successful solo careers of band members and the entire catalog now available on iTunes. And fear not digital design fans. Much like the Beatles, Autodesk University 2010 will continue to thrive in the blogosphere, and through archived webcasts, audio interviews, videos, and more. The team at [acronym] Online, with the help of some attendees from the DLT blog wrote a blog series about their experiences at AU 2010. For those of you who couldn’t make the trip to Las Vegas, the blogs did a good job of painting a picture of the conference, including some key takeaways and focusing on how new design innovations can benefit the public sector. Below is an excerpt from the entry Autodesk University 2010, Day 2 – The Power of Partners
Digital scanning, for example, is a hot topic at this year’s AU with companies demonstrating the power of robotic scanners for as-built digitizing. Government and military vehicles are always being retrofitted and redesigned. These scanners are a way to easily take existing designs and bringing them into a workable digital format. This process will literally keep government mechanical engineers from re-inventing the wheel.
The Autodesk University website also serves as a great digital archive for AU2010. They have plenty of videos including the complete 2010 General Session featuring friend of [acronym] Online and Autodesk Technical Evangelist, Lynn Allen, along with Autodesk CEO Carl Bass, Ron Paananen, project administrator, Washington State Department of Transportation, and many others. The AU Website also offers online classes, articles, blogs, podcasts and more videos. Autodesk University 2010 may be over. But with plenty of resources to sharpen your design skills, AU2011 will be here before you know it.
